Deseret Units Design Contest
The Deseret Currency Association is looking for great new designs for the next series of Deseret Units. This contest is an opportunity for people from all around the Deseret Region to submit their new and unique designs to be used as the official design for the Deseret Unit.
How to Enter
Create your design for the new Deseret Unit and submit it to us through email at dca@deseretregion.com to be reviewed.
This contest centers around aspects of the physical currency. This means we are looking for vibrant new designs including the color, style, size and shape of Deseret Units. We are also looking for ways to represent the many diverse places, ecology, people, and/or history of the Deseret Region. Designs should also include innovative ways to address counterfeiting concerns.
Ideas should include designs for all ten current denominations of Deseret Units: V100, V10, V1, mV500, mV250, mV100, mV50, mV25, mV10, and mV5.
Designs can include paper, polymer, even non-metallic coins.
Designs could be based on certain themes such as regional symbols, historic people, landscapes, regional monuments, architecture, etc.
Designs can be more traditional or new and bold. It is important that designs are clearly distinguishable from the existing or historic designs for the US dollar. They should catch someone's eye and be exciting to look at and to use.
Some questions to help you:
1. What format will your currency be(paper/coins/polymer/cards)?
2. What colors and shapes will you use?
3. How will you distinguish Units from Milliunits?
4. What anti-counterfeiting features will your design include?
5. How will your design be printed/manufactured?
6. How much will it cost to produce your design?
Email your ideas to dca@deseretregion.com.
All submissions should be single images of each denomination, and if possible one image of the whole collection(there will be no penalty for not including this image). Images should be jpg, or png format. Each should be about 72dpi and 700px wide/high at maximum.
Each submission should include an explanation of the design. You should also include some brief information about yourself, such as your name, location, etc.
Out of all the designs submitted a certain number will be selected. Those designs selected will be posted on the website for a vote. Anyone viewing this website will be able to vote for the final design of the new Deseret Units.
No design will become official until it is announced on this website by the Deseret Currency Association. No design may include elements of previous or current US dollar bills or coins. The designer retains the right to their work. However by submitting their work to us the designer give Deseret Region the right to display their work in any form. The designer of whichever final work that is selected to be the official design for the Deseret Unit gives Deseret Region the right to use the work in any way we see fit. Appropriate credit for the selected work will be given on this website and in various publications.
We would like to see the Deseret Alphabet somehow incorporated in to the designs.
Thank you. We look forward to seeing your ideas.
